“Dissatisfied.”

The place had a lot of issues: the sheets were already dirty on arrival, as if a bird had soiled them; the fridge, both inside and out, was visibly grimy and stank; the bathroom looked untouched, with mould everywhere and stains on the door; cockroaches kept popping up in the room; even the pool needed cleaning. Breakfast was underwhelming. The location offered a few small bars and restaurants, but nothing great, and you’d have to travel farther for better options. Because of the cottage construction, sound travels easily—you could hear the local temples, street noise, and dogs howling in distress. The temple noise was unbearable and lingered late into the night; if we’d known this was a regular problem, we wouldn’t have booked.

There wasn’t much to say. The towels were dirty and hadn’t even been changed, and the beds were stained.

“De jolis bungalows”

The bungalows look stunning, but the bathroom maintenance is lacking. The garden is beautiful, with a pool in the middle, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, the plumbing is full of limescale, the Japanese-style floor in the bathroom is green and could be scrubbed, a shower head leaks, and the mirror isn’t cleaned. I asked for breakfast on the floating platform by the pool to share a romantic moment with my partner, but we didn’t get it, leaving me very disappointed.
