The setting is nice. The breakfast is very limited.
“Great stay”
The hotel, room, restaurant, and staff were all great! I had an amazing stay at Cielo Maya and would totally recommend it for a relaxing visit. The restaurant food was good and varied, including a complimentary breakfast. The water equipment offered was nice too. A cenote is just a minute away. Renting a car before arriving is advisable if you want to explore the area, but you can also take a taxi from the bus station in Tulum.
“ruhig und erholsam”
The hotel sits right on the beach, which gets cleaned of seaweed every morning; there were always free loungers with umbrellas, and with only about 20 rooms the stay was quiet and relaxing, and there are no large hotels nearby. However, the sand is only fine where there's no water, and in the water many large stones lie off the shore, while the kayak storage compartments have no locks, risking capsizing in waves.
The hotel is magnificent, the rooms are very large, comfortable, and have sea‑view balconies. Tulum is hit hard by sargassum, making the beach practically unusable, with a strong, unpleasant smell. The hotel restaurant also leaves a lot to be desired.
The breakfast was simple but fresh and well cared for, yet the road to the hotel was awful, about 1.9 km long, and the toilet kept plugging up, plus the beach was covered in seaweed.
