“Top 1 stay in Lake District.”
The place was amazing, the views were stunning, and the people were fantastic—great food, especially the pub and the restaurant, both highly recommended. We didn’t miss anything; everyone was friendly, helpful, and quick to respond before and during our stay. A must‑visit in the Lake District.
A solid base for exploring Buttermere and the surrounding area.

Breakfast was lovely with loads of choice, the room was comfy, and the location was great.

The location is brilliant, especially in the early evening after the daytrippers have left; there are plenty of walks right off the door and the bar food is good. The deluxe room with balcony we booked turned out to be nowhere near as big or attractive as the online photo, though the small print says the photos are representative, so you may not get that room. Some of the older female staff weren’t very friendly, and we even saw one of them get into an altercation with another customer. The restaurant (not the bar) had no atmosphere – we were the only ones inside, they could only serve the bar menu, and they were setting up breakfast tables around us.
