Hotel Gasthaus Papen Änne

Breakfast was good, solid German, the restaurant was charming, good roof and reasonable price level. The stairs to the room were too steep.

“Sehr empfehlenswert!”

In a historic building, the room was very clean with a large bathroom. The staff were extremely friendly. The restaurant was cozy with very good food and a very friendly waiter. There was a free private parking space. I’d gladly come back anytime!

“Dit gaat alleen over de onbeschofte persoon (M) in het restaurant. De dames waren heel aardig!”

The room had a great bed, a nice shower, and breakfast was delicious! We spent almost the whole day in the car and wanted to eat at our overnight address. An extremely rude guy shouted at us from the other side of the restaurant: “We’re full, no more seats tonight!” Even though we told reception that we’d like to eat there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The hotel is in one of the oldest buildings in the area, very rustic with exposed beams and a winding staircase, but everything has been well renovated. Because the restaurant is popular for its good cuisine, you should book a table in advance. The food there is really good. The access to the parking is via a side street heading into town. There don’t seem to be designated spots for hotel guests. Since the restaurant (with beer garden) is very popular, finding a parking space can be problematic during peak times. It’s also not easier in the surrounding area.
