The central spot right on the market square was great, and we rode our bike to get here. The bike could only be parked in the entrance hallway, and the route to the rooms was poorly signposted, so we had to call staff—who weren’t even there—to get directions. We ended up wandering through a makeshift construction zone inside the building. The windows were broken, and it felt avoidable if there had been a clear sign or if the construction area had been cordoned off.

The hotel sits right in the city center, so you don't need a car to wander around. The entire hotel is newly renovated, yet the carpets at the entrance and the staircase were filthy. The room number was written on a slip with a ballpoint pen. In the hallway walls, there were marks from a water leak. The windows in the hallway seemed as old as the city of Braunau. The trash can in the bathroom was a plastic bag. The new towels were stored in a storage room. We will never book this hotel again.

The only thing that actually worked was the TV Wi‑Fi, which seemed brand‑new and failed elsewhere; the tourism board of Braunau promotes this place, yet it was a disgrace for the town—my room was never cleaned during the six nights, there were no toiletries in the bathroom and I had to beg for them, the toilet seat was loosely attached, there was no ventilation or window in the toilet and bathroom, clothing had to be hung on a metal rod that almost fell off the wall and I had to supply my own hangers, the grimy window faced the town square making it impossible to sleep before 10 pm, the large bed was fine but looking under it was disgusting, the advertised bike garage let anyone park their bike in the entrance where people come and go, and after six days I finally managed to hang my e‑bike on the stair railing with the help of the one‑person staff, which the authorities should not have allowed; breakfast was limited to two indistinct pastry rolls in a paper bag and sliced cucumbers daily, whereas a good breakfast with quality coffee was available a few steps away at one of the two bakeries, but that required an extra payment.
