It’s a palace‑style hotel with a beautiful pool, great hot water shower, and a peaceful location; the staff were very nice. We stayed one night on our way from Kandy to Arugam Bay. The linens were very old and worn on the beds and bathroom towels, and there were no lounge areas to make good use of the pool and garden surroundings.

Convenient on the route from the interior to the east coast, but the arrival already had a strange vibe. When we asked for pool towels, they made it difficult and told us we couldn’t swim; after some insistence we finally got towels. Once in the pool, another Sri Lankan family came in, even bringing a box with very loud music. At reception they said the pool was open for everyone that day and there was a party with no end time. As time went on, more people came in and they didn’t even look at us in the pool. We felt very uncomfortable and asked if we could cancel the booking because this situation wasn’t communicated to us. The staff were totally unwilling to accommodate us or explain why the situation bothered us. In the end we ended up paying 50% of the price, even though we didn’t use the room or the pool, which was full of children from the village.
