“Great place to stop and eat . Perfect for Helmswell Car booters”

We stayed unexpectedly again to catch a huge carboot sale in Helmswell, Gainsborough, so the location was perfect, just a few miles away. The building looked great in a smart village. The welcome was cheerful, the check‑in smooth, and everything was explained clearly. The pub was beautiful, with traditional fittings and a modern twist in décor. I wish I could have listened in when someone suggested a white, grey, and orange palette—it works. The rooms felt like purpose‑built chalets: large, roomy, with a sofa and tasteful furnishings, offering everything you’d need for an overnight stay. The bathroom was lovely, clean, tidy, and fresh. Dining at the pub was amazing, with plenty of favorites and specials that looked and smelled great. Watching the kitchen staff work was a treat; the black pudding and potato stack starter was awesome, and vegan and veggie options were well catered for. The waiting staff were excellent, chatty, and friendly—thanks to the pub management. In the morning we enjoyed a lovely, fully‑served breakfast with quality, well‑cooked items. The staff were again friendly. It’s an odd place but exactly what we wanted, and the stay was good. I’ll return. I won’t change my mind about “comfort”: the room was clean and ambient, but I prefer a softer bed, whereas my wife slept better than I did.

“Excellent, comfortable room, good food.”

The room was large, comfortable, and very clean, with all the expected amenities. The rooms are separate from the pub, so there’s no noise from the pub. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pre‑ordered the night before, letting you choose what you want and when you want it, and it was excellent—freshly cooked and very generous. Nothing else to add; you couldn’t expect more from a village pub.

“Yet again can’t really grumble”

I stay here every time I travel to nearby Blyton Park for work. Staff are always lovely, fun & accommodating. Rooms are soo nice and comfortable. Hot showers (that don’t require an engineering degree like some to adjust the temp). There’s a shop literally 5 mins walk if you want a snack for your room. Shower cubicles could be a tad bigger but they’re perfectly usable anyway
