The Bear Inn

The food was excellent, the surrounding countryside is gorgeous, and the inn has a great old‑country vibe. The place has a ferocious number of stairs and doors for such a small space, making it hard to move multiple full‑size suitcases in and out, and no help was offered. The mattress is as thin as one on a fold‑out couch, and the room is pretty small.

“Beautiful stay”

We had a wonderful time at The Bear Inn. The room was exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfy, feeling like a real home away from home. The bathroom was spotless, stylish, and clearly maintained with great attention to detail. On top of a lovely room, the food was absolutely exceptional—every meal was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The only small issue was that the shower was a bit of a non‑starter, likely due to the old plumbing in the beautiful old pub, but it got you clean.

“A perfect location for a short break away.”

The staff were very helpful and did everything they could to make the stay better. The food was amazing, with good‑sized portions, reasonably priced, and extremely tasty. There are lovely walks straight from the doorstep. There was nothing to dislike.

“Really enjoyed our stay, whilst visiting surrounding area and Steam Train ride”

Old‑worldy and quirky, the inn had a nice four‑poster bed that was very comfy, clean, and soft, giving us a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was very good, the staff were friendly, and we ate two evening meals there, all of which were great food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Nice place, but pricey for what it was and showers need to be more powerful”

A cosy place with welcoming staff, but the shower hardly worked and the room was very hot.
