I really liked the facilities; it was one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever stayed at. We had the whole Airbnb to ourselves and everything we needed was available. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedroom was spotless and nothing was missing. The place is stunning, the kind that makes you want to return repeatedly. Birds fly by both in the morning and at night. Just plan ahead: you have to bring your own food because the location is truly remote. The access road, however, was in poor condition—initially it seemed easy, but as you got closer the difficulty became clear. The site sits atop a mountain, and loose stones, likely from rain, made the drive tricky for my 2012 C3 1.6, so a 4x4 is advisable. I scratched my car, but the experience was worth it. Because the road was tough and we only had a weekend, we left on Sunday. On Friday we visited a waterfall (thankfully!). Saturday we drove to the end of the dirt road and bathed in Rio dos Couros; the road ended at a little beach about 3.2 km from the lodging, which was fun. They said the area is private property, but we had no problems. Just a heads‑up: the river is strong. We returned on Sunday.

The place is divine! The cabin is stunning, very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and gorgeous. The shared kitchen is fully stocked, everything was super clean and well cared for. The hosts were very helpful and attentive. The lodge is quite isolated, but that’s one of its strengths—it lets you connect with nature, we saw macaws every day and the view was incredible. We loved it and would love to come back. The road to Kalu Oká is a bit tricky; a 4x4 is recommended if possible. Our car wasn’t a 4x4, so the difficulty was obvious. We took about 20 minutes to cover the 6 km of dirt road.
