The host, a friendly Taiwanese lady, made us feel right at home; the mattress was surprisingly comfortable and the hot water and heating were solid. The common area is roomy and even has a desk if you need to get some work done. On the downside, the night‑light only takes a USB‑A plug, the low ceiling means you have to watch your head, and the hallway lighting is a touch dim, though it’s not a deal‑breaker. The host plans to relocate and keep operating elsewhere.

It’s right in the heart of the city, which is perfect for walking around the main sights. The price, however, feels a bit steep compared to other options in Sarajevo. If you’re willing to pay a premium for convenience, it works.

Clean, quiet hostel with a single guest during my stay, and the staff were pleasant enough to let me linger until evening at no extra cost. They seem to cut back on heating, only turning it on later in the day, so it was noticeably cool before that. Apart from the chilly mornings, everything else was fine.

I spent a week at Alfar House and felt safe and comfortable the whole time; the spot is just a short walk from the city centre and close to a market. The female owner is thoughtful, and the rooms feel more like a small home than a hostel, with regular beds and spotless spaces. Laundry is reasonably priced, though the dryer is a bit pricey, and a coffee maker would be a nice touch. Highly recommend for solo women travelers looking for a clean, cozy base.
