“Pleasant hotel for a short stay.”
The place sits in a lovely spot, and the front desk team were super welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was small but still comfortable. The restaurant, however, let us down: we were charged for breakfast without signing, and at checkout we discovered we’d paid two different prices for the same items on consecutive days. Later, when reviewing the bill at home, we saw we’d been double‑charged for a salad—£24 for a plate of kale seemed excessive. The biggest issue was the acoustics; the room echoed so much that people had to raise their voices, making quiet conversation nearly impossible. A bit more insulation would fix this and improve the overall atmosphere.
“Beautiful old country hotel but rooms just a little too small”
The location is beautiful, and the old house with its tasteful modern bar/restaurant extension and quaint treehouse chalets in the grounds is charming. The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were good, and the food was delicious. The room was a bit pokey and could use more space to relax. The staff also forgot to empty the coffee pot’s dregs after the previous guests used it.
“A fabulous place to celebrate an occasion”
The property is in a beautiful setting . Just a few points when paying quite a lot for a room . 1. someone else’s hair in the shower cubicle 2. A very dusty fan 3. A dust ball by the drinks cupboard 4 Tea stains on the surface where tea and coffee was to be made 5 A handle broken off in the hallway where milk was to be found in a fridge 6. Backs of chairs in the garden room restaurant that needed replacing
“A lovely relaxed stay in a beautiful location with great food and quirky but stylish accommodation”
The location is beautiful, and the blend of the original house with modern touches—like the Garden Room—was great. We adored our little Hive treehouse, which felt cosy and quirky, though the bathroom was a bit small and lacked storage. The staff were all lovely, very friendly, and endlessly helpful, making my wife’s 60th birthday a memorable occasion. The Hive bathroom’s limited space and lack of shelves were a drawback, and the two air extraction units looked unattractive, detracting from the otherwise stylish interior. The buggies used for moving guests and luggage could have been better equipped to hold various cases without them falling off.
“A beautiful location celebrating a special birthday with friends”
Callow Hall’s decor is tasteful, and the surrounding grounds offer fabulous views. The room was great, featuring a lovely shower, fluffy towels, and a comfortable bed. The staff were all very attentive. No negatives.
