Everything about Zopilote was incredible from top to bottom, and the owner turned an already tropical paradise island into a truly magical oasis. They’ve perfected it; the only thing I’d change is the weather, which is in God’s hands, not theirs.

Such a wonderland in every way! The hostel sits within a beautiful tropical permaculture jungle surrounded by edible plants and fruit trees. The restaurant is INCREDIBLE, offering healthy, truly delicious food mostly made from what they grow on the property. Daily yoga and activities are phenomenal, and there are plenty of beautiful butterflies, howler monkeys, and cute squirrels everywhere. The people who come here are just amazing, and the staff are lovely and helpful—I loved everything about this place.

For my stay at Zopilote, I was hosted at Elsewhereland, and let me tell you, this place is gorgeous! You have to walk a short distance to get there; it’s a sort of house with several accommodations and a dormitory. I chose a bed that was half outside on the balcony, waking up to a view of trees and singing birds—a gentle, serene start to beautiful days. All beds have mosquito nets, so you don’t have to worry about insects or other small animals. If you love being in full nature, this is the ideal spot. There’s a small kitchen, two outdoor showers, compost toilets, and a little area for hand‑washing clothes. Plus, two adorable dogs will happily greet you. I’m very satisfied with my stay at this place.

Staying at el Zopilote is an experience in itself. The surrounding nature, farm‑to‑table food, eco‑friendly facilities, and endless special activities make it unforgettable. If you’re looking for comfort, it might not be for you—the shower is outdoors, and bugs are everywhere you go.

What I liked most is that it’s not just a hostel; it’s an agroecological project with a restaurant offering excellent organic vegetarian food, and there are different varied activities every day. It’s a beautiful little building that I loved ✨
