The place was peaceful yet close to Hebden Bridge and the train station, everything looked freshly renovated, there were plenty of teas, coffees and biscuits, and the staff were friendly. They even helped us with our luggage before check‑in, which we really appreciated. The only downside was the laundry detergent used on the bedding and towels – it was too strong, the artificial scent made it hard to sleep, and even our pyjamas still smelled strongly when we unpacked. Anyone with asthma or migraines might find this problematic. Otherwise we’d give 10/10.

The facilities were spotless and the fresh oat milk in the mini‑fridge was a huge bonus. Getting to Hebden was great because the bus stop is right outside the door. We were told we couldn’t get fresh towels after the first night, which we hadn’t experienced before when staying two nights elsewhere; normally towels are replaced each morning and our room hadn’t been refreshed by the time we returned late in the afternoon.

The property had been recently refurbished and the bed was comfortable. Room 4 had a view of a roof and was above the bar, so it was noisy until the bar closed. Although tea and coffee were available in the room, there were no staff in the morning to return the key and the bar was locked. We hung our keys on the bar door and had to find a café for breakfast. Luckily there is a small café across the road, beside the bridge.
