Grand Traverse Motel

“Quiet, nice location, basic accommodations.”

The motel sits on a busy street yet was surprisingly quiet, and getting to local attractions was easy. A short walk brought me to a small public beach. The staff were friendly and helpful, and parking right in front of the motel was convenient. However, it seemed the motel was housing homeless guests—some left their rooms and pushed shopping carts full of belongings, and others rode bicycles around the property, which felt unsettling. Smoking under the cabana and cigarette butts littering the back area where I walked my dog each morning were also issues.

The office staff and housekeeping were exceptionally nice, and the location is great, with no major complaints.

The grab‑and‑go breakfast was great, and we enjoyed the old classic motel vibe, but the distance to the bay was not the 750 feet claimed.

I didn’t grab breakfast at the motel because there were plenty of spots within walking distance, but the coffee that came with the room was nice. The fridge, microwave, and all the storage for your stuff were excellent, and the bed was comfortable with very clean sheets and covers. The bathroom was spotless and had a good shower or bath. Downtown was just a walk or a short drive away, and there were plenty of sights and state parks within half an hour to an hour. The motel’s location, staff, and food were great, so I’d definitely recommend it. The only downside was the TV selection, though honestly you won’t spend much time in your room with everything else to do.
