What a fantastic medieval hotel! The building exudes history, and the interiors are gorgeous and ornate. The restaurant was outstanding, with the a la carte dishes we ordered being truly delicious and the breakfast a class apart. The variety and scope were unparalleled. The staff deserves special mention for their friendliness and excellent service. Thank you for an amazing experience 😍

The quality is solid, the building and amenities are great, and the quiet areas offer peace and silence—ideal for sitting down to write a book or diary. Breakfast was excellent. Some age shows here and there, but with regular visits and constant upkeep, these will be polished and fixed.

The tower room was absolutely superb! (And the gray loft even let us sleep peacefully 😊). The place is steeped in history, set in a cozy environment. The restaurant staff deserves extra thanks for their wonderful service! Dinner was excellent, breakfast good, except we’re not fans of Löfberg coffee… so that’s the only minus for me regarding that important coffee flavor. A beautiful and historic hotel, I recommend a visit. The coffee for breakfast was just ordinary filtered, thank you :) Of course, a proper pancake coffee would be “the thing” for the ambience, but the very dark Löfberg didn’t taste good. A little while the new owner is still tidying up the rooms, those little 70‑90‑style furniture/shelf solutions in the 1920s style, the place is close to perfection.

A beautiful castle in a great spot. On Sunday we didn’t get any food. The chocolate‑mat in the room smelled like urine, etc. Other than that it was tidy.

We arrived well before check‑in time. Our room was ready and we could settle in immediately. The hotel’s location by the Imatra River was central. The surrounding area offers excellent outdoor opportunities. Our stay in the lovely jugend town went smoothly in every way. Breakfast was comprehensive, featuring northern flavors like smoked reindeer mousse and reindeer jerky. The ginger‑curd mash sauce was also a refreshing start to the morning. This was the expected escape from everyday life. A warm recommendation for Valtionhotelli.
