I felt instantly welcomed here, the staff were the friendliest I’ve met, and as a solo traveler I felt safe and comfortable; the food at The Button Factory was delicious and my coeliac needs were well met—thanks, and I hope to come back.

“Cozy little boutique hotel short walk from Birmingham centre”

The boutique‑style room was gorgeous with plenty of thoughtful touches, and it was handy to be close to The Button Factory and to get discounted great food downstairs next door.

“Best avoided.”

We booked this for a one‑night stay to catch a concert in Birmingham, the price was fairly reasonable since I booked early and the venue was a 15‑minute walk; the photos looked nice and the bathroom was spacious and clean, but after tickets went on sale I think we were assigned the worst room for paying less, and it didn’t match the photos. We stayed in room 4 at the back on the ground floor, a dark, damp room with very little natural light; the small window overlooking the inner courtyard let in almost no light or fresh air. Other problems included a cold tap coming loose from the sink, extremely dim lighting, a hole in the wall below the TV, a visible damp patch above the shower, and someone in the room above thumping from 6 am. Reception was empty so we had to go to the pub next door, and the owners didn’t respond to any bad reviews; there was no manager around. The pub staff had to leave their post to show us in, and we saw no one to complain to, so it was a waste of time since there were no other rooms free anyway.

“Last minute, but greatly appreciated”

I loved the decor; the facilities were more than satisfactory (the fridge was a bonus); my room was clean and the bed comfortable, the shower was decent, and the staff were excellent.
