We traveled from Chimbarongo to Iquique for my daughter’s competition and had no idea what to expect, but upon arrival at Peninsula Hostel, which had excellent reviews, we decided to stay and it turned out to be a highlight of the trip, especially since we didn’t like Iquique.

We arrived late at night after being stranded by our original booking with Alpro Departamentos; we were frustrated but the staff greeted us with big smiles, kindness, and sympathy, making this the best place we’ve stayed in Chile. The ladies running the place are super sweet and welcoming, and we felt right at home. Breakfast was plentiful, sweet and savory, and the place was always spotless. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was very comfortable, and our room had a desk, a TV with streaming services, and strong, stable internet—perfect for work. The hostel is just a one‑minute walk from the beach, boardwalk, outdoor gym, restaurants, and markets, and it’s quiet at night with the ocean audible from the bed. Stay here, don’t look any further!
