The little extras—like a makeup towel, a tray for dirty shoes/boots, a large bath in a spacious bathroom—were appreciated. The breakfast was lovely, free parking was practically in the centre of Matlock, and a pleasant stroll into the town centre followed. No sockets next to the bed; an extension cord with USBs would have been useful.

Breakfast was okay, but more whole fruit and pastries would have helped. The heating could only be turned on by the main control, so our room stayed really cold—definitely not good for this time of year.

The breakfast was cooked by the host herself and was delicious; the house’s specialty is a must‑try. The taxi left us stranded (don’t order UBER here, it doesn’t work), but Ziz, the host, drove us to the wedding and thanks to her quick action we didn’t miss the ceremony and arrived on time. Thanks again, Ziz!
