The staff at the city hotel are very friendly and accommodating—five stars for that. The location in the upper town is special for tourists and excellent. The hotel has the typical Franconian charm. The room had nothing to do with the photos posted; it was a winding 11 qm space with a 90 cm wide bed. Such a room could be offered as an extra room for a family with children, but for an adult it is a real ordeal. It offers no amenities such as a coffee machine or even a kettle; the so‑called “toilet paper” in the bathroom is limited to a refill bottle of soap. There is exactly one small shower towel and one towel for face and hands. On the bed there is a small pillow; no other pillows exist in the wardrobe. In terms of equipment only the absolute minimum is provided. On request you can get a second pillow, but only after the reception is staffed again. The room service starts very early and very loudly—by 7 am the sleep was over. The underground parking is very tight; when full, it’s unclear how one can fit into the spaces. The underground parking was originally equipped with movable grid levels so that each spot could be used twice, but that’s no longer possible with today’s car sizes. The grids remain. No woman can walk in pumps through those grids without breaking her ankles. It’s also annoying that the reception is on the opposite side of the street. With a pre‑booked underground spot, they expect you to go from the underground parking with full luggage across the street to the reception and back—quite annoying in bad weather. If you first use the street parking and then report to reception, they’ll have to make another round due to the one‑way system—so not ideal. In my case, the entrance to the old town Kronach was blocked. I had to take a 10 km detour via a side street to reach the hotel. No notification was sent when booking the parking spot.

The location is very central, the staff is very helpful and friendly, and the rooms are individually designed with care. The breakfast offers everything you need but nothing extraordinary, and the coffee tastes slightly bitter.

Central, very cozy, just a short walk from the train station. The house restaurant serves wonderful home‑crafted beer. The staff are very friendly.
