The Meliá Berlin hotel stands on Berlin's Friedrichstraße shopping street, beside the River Spree. It features an Executive club, spacious rooms, and free high-speed WiFi. Bright rooms have flat-screen TVs, soundproofed windows, and heated bathroom floors. The hotel offers a modern gym, sauna, and bicycle rentals. A rich buffet breakfast and Mediterranean specialties are served. The Brandenburg Gate is within 1 km, with Friedrichstraße Train Station nearby.

The location is perfect. Walking distance to many sights and the Friedrichstadt Palace is a stone’s throw for tourists. With the S‑ and U‑train and tram nearby, Berlin is fully accessible. I wouldn’t call the rooms “old‑fashioned” as some describe them. It’s a Spanish hotel chain, and the bathroom tiles, for example, reflect the Spanish Melia style that I recognize. The beds were comfortable, everything was tidy and clean. My daughter loved the Rituals toiletries. I appreciate having a shower stall in the bathroom for cold days. For older guests, I’d recommend asking for a walk‑in shower when booking. The reception staff were very friendly.

The central location is excellent! The upgrade to a room with breakfast on the 7th floor, plus a daily all‑you‑can‑eat buffet with a wide range of drinks, cold and hot snacks for a flat daily rate, is totally fair. The accompanying tapas restaurant, with very courteous staff, is great and invites you to a nightcap at the bar. The downside: when we first checked in, there were empty bottles and a half‑full bottle of red wine left from the previous guest in the room. The minibar was 2/3 empty. After we reported it to reception, they said it would be restocked and cleaned that same day, but even on the fourth day of our stay the situation hadn’t changed. At check‑out at 06:20 h, we were billed for the drinks as feared. We were in a hurry and any discussion was pointless. They insisted on charging us, and we couldn’t even be told exactly which drinks were included!

The breakfast was good, the bed was comfortable, and the room was a nice size. The cafeteria prices felt high, especially for a gin‑and‑tonic. The way they made the bed—folding the comforter on top and that’s it—was odd.

Sehr komfortables und ruhiges Zimmer, Wasserkocher vorhanden,sehr gutes Frühstück mit großer Auswahl, extrem hilfreiches,freundliches und professionelles Personal. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!
