The hotel is fairly central for exploring Kyoto and the rooms feel spacious by Japanese standards. Fresh bottles of mineral water are restocked daily in the room fridge, which is a nice touch in the August heat. The breakfast room is large enough to avoid queues at any time during the allotted slot, offering a wide selection of Western and Japanese options. We weren’t told we had to reserve breakfast before arrival, so we ended up eating outside for the first two days and had to plan ahead next time. There’s no bar on the premises. Overall it’s a good hotel, though perhaps not what you’d expect from a four‑star property.

The hotel was clean and modern, and the buffet breakfast was great; the beds and pillows were comfortable and the rooms were a good size. Everything else was fine.
