The rooms are a good size, and the food at the restaurant is spot on. The mattress, however, was hard and made it difficult to sleep.

The location is convenient and the bed is comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Water stains on the ceilings in room 8, an UPVC door that isn’t fitted properly (traffic noise was obvious), and overall noise made the stay noisy. There was no glass for water or toothbrushes, and the kettle couldn’t be filled from the basin tap. Curtains weren’t fitted correctly, and the green fire exit light was very bright with dead spiders and flies. There was no shelving for bathroom toiletries, and for a disabled room/facility a fridge would be handy if meds need to be kept cold. There was no food on Sunday evening and the pub closed at 8.45 pm (not 9 pm as stated). Breakfast cost a minimum of £5 and offered no cereals, juices, or yogurts.

The location was good for our needs. The annex 8 had big stains on the ceiling, dead flies, and cockroaches in the shower area. The hand soap in the room had about 1 cm of cheap soap in it. The bed was very uncomfortable. The meals were of good quality, but the bar’s drink selection was limited.

The room in the separate building was comfortable and offered a great view over open fields. The restaurant was good, and the hotel’s position on the A41 made it a convenient break from our journey from Wales. I would stay again.
