AMETYST Hostel

I booked a 5‑night stay but ended up staying elsewhere for 2 nights because I met someone, so the host had no idea I wasn’t in the hostel. When I tried to return after 3 nights, my room was already occupied by other people even though I still had the key, and there was no local contact to help. I just wanted to double‑check I had packed everything, but that wasn’t possible. I also had a very minimalistic room behind the reception that used to be an office; from there you could hear all conversations in the hostel. The check‑in was unclear, Wi‑Fi hardly ever worked, reception was always unstaffed, there was no ceiling light—only a bleak standing lamp with one of two bulbs having a loose connection—plus noise from outside and inside the hostel.

It’s right in the center, cleaning is normal, a Ukrainian staff member let me stay a bit longer at reception, which is also important. The hostel is one of the best, I liked it, and it’s not expensive.

“Très sympathique!!”

The place was very friendly. What I liked most was that travelers were spread proportionally across all rooms, so in six‑person rooms we were sometimes two, sometimes three, which was highly appreciated. There was also a small balcony overlooking a nice street with great architecture, which was a bonus. The hotel is just next to the old town, only a few minutes’ walk away, so I’ll remember it fondly. However, if you’re very particular about cleanliness, this place might not suit you.

The spot is great and the price is solid, but there are a lot of people; still, the vibe is nice.
