The lodge lived up to its name: a lodge right by Brian Head Resort ski area, surrounded by trees where mule deer roam. Parking was convenient, the place was clean, and there was a bar/restaurant on site. My room was roomy, the bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of good pillows. The only issue was an ice machine on the second floor (of three) that worked the first night but was broken the next morning.

It was quiet and good for relaxing. The TV didn’t have the channels I wanted; most of the channels required a subscription.

The location offers amazing views. The front desk staff in the morning were not very pleasant or helpful. We knew we would be late checking in and the hotel said the lobby would close after 11 p.m., so we arrived early just to get a room assigned, not to actually check in because rooms were still being cleaned. The girl didn’t even empathize with our situation and simply said she couldn’t check us in. Later she offered to do it for an extra $20. We wasted an hour of driving coming early, and the treatment was very shabby.

The hotel is really very pretty and full of charm. A smile at the reception would have been appreciated. The facilities are excellent: indoor fireplaces, indoor pool, outdoor spa, etc.

The staff was great. The room was clean and the beds were semi‑comfortable. The only problem was the TV: the remote wouldn’t work, so a staff member came up, picked it up, and replaced the batteries. After she left, we tried to use the remote again but couldn’t adjust the volume, which was too low to hear. After a long drive we just wanted to relax and watch TV before bed. Since we didn’t want to bother the staff again, we turned the TV off, but it wouldn’t turn off, so we had to unplug it. My daughter and I needed white noise to sleep, but we couldn’t get the A/C unit to run on fan continuously. We laughed a lot about the situation, but I’m very disappointed with our visit except for the staff. Thank you very much for trying to fix the TV problem.
