The Royal Alfred - Opposite Central Train Station

Everything was great and the food was excellent, but I couldn’t get any hot water for a shower.

“Awful”

There was no breakfast; it was listed as £9—fair enough. I sent at least two messages asking for a gluten‑free option because I’m coeliac, but received no replies. A notice in the room said breakfast was at 9 am every day, yet on Sunday mornings there were no breakfasts.

Room was very comfortable, fantastic location, free parking, great bar selection of beers – check‑in took too long, had to leave and come back, still had problems when I returned, everything else was perfect. Great stay, sorry about check‑in. My job is working all over the country refurbishing pubs. It was definitely 9.5/10.

“Good value, modern clean and very comfortable”

The bed was the most comfortable among the four hotels I stayed at this week – nothing else to note.
