The bungalow felt comfortable, the guest house was a small‑scale, welcoming place with good food, calmness, excellent massages, and efficient laundry; the owners and staff were very warm. The only downside is that the pool is still under construction, which would be a plus.

Dodi, the host, was amazing—his English is great, and he taught me a lot about Hinduism and Sideman. I loved the cooking class, the rice terrace tour, and the local food market where he explained everything. The room itself is perfect, featuring a huge bathroom.

The DARMADA ECO resort next door saved our lives that night we arrived. This property should not be offered for rental, at least not yet. The surrounding area was full of construction debris and rubbish. The apartment itself had large gaps between the wooden walls, through which insects and other things could easily enter. The people who welcomed us were barefoot and visibly dirty. There was also construction work going on in the yard, with loud noise starting early in the morning. Although we had paid for three nights, we left after the first night because staying there was simply not acceptable. I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

We stayed in the beautiful family room, which looks like a fancy resort but is much cheaper. The veranda is a wonderful spot to sit. It sits in a garden where a swimming pool is currently being built. We enjoyed the time with manager Dodi, who we booked for a trip to temples. He speaks very good English. You can refill your water bottles in the room, and there is a fridge and tea. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We booked a massage that was very pleasant. The hotel is not far from the Samsara Living Museum, which I can highly recommend for the whole family. All in all we had a wonderful stay and wish we had more time to go hiking in the rice fields. The hotel offers extremely good value for the money. The hotel is situated close to the road, so you can hear traffic a little bit, but we did not mind. The room was very clean, but maybe the fridge could use a little extra cleaning. Many Westerners would appreciate a toilet brush in the bathroom. There were no mosquitoes when we were there, but if there are at some times of the year, it may be a good idea to change the mosquito net so it covers the whole bed.
