Everything was great: the location, the vibe, the character of the place. Roger was charming and welcoming, and I’d have stayed longer if I could. Portland, a cute spot on Ocean Road between Adelaide and Melbourne, is worth a few days. The historic tram ride is fun, the beaches look nice, and the area offers plenty. Several good cafés and restaurants are within walking distance, and Roger is happy to give advice. The downside was not seeing the seals and missing some walking spots, though we did spot a koala in a tree by the harbor and a couple of kangaroos on our walk trying to find the seals.

Roger was a fantastic host, the room was superb, the old house had great high ceilings, and the location was convenient—just a short walk to shops.

Breakfast was excellent, with many options and plenty of food, and there were no issues.

The welcome was very friendly, Roger was helpful and arranged a great breakfast, and he took time to answer all my many questions. No real room for improvement.
