“Excellent location, historic charm, quiet place for grown-ups. Needs better hot water and pressure.”

The spot was spot on. The building was spotless and the staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel guests could park, and I liked that the quiet hours kicked in after 9 pm. The rocking chairs on the porch were comfortable. The bagel shop on the street level was perfect for breakfast. The water pressure in the shower was weak, and the water barely warmed up—fine in summer, but a hot shower is essential in the fall. The stairs were a challenge; the building is old and has no elevator, so that was expected, but there are many steep steps.

We enjoyed the convivial front‑porch get‑together with friends and met new people along the way. The lack of an elevator and the many stairs made it hard to carry luggage, especially for older seniors, who made up most of the guests.

The location was fabulous, and the lobby seating area and porch with rocking chairs felt inviting. The front desk staff were very helpful, giving suggestions, directions, and even a corkscrew (we’d forgotten ours). Parking was convenient. We never had hot water; the staff told us to run the shower and sink to get it, which seemed wasteful and never got hot enough for a shower. The mattress was a bit soft for our taste, but the room was stocked with amenities, so thanks for that! The bathroom window had no screen.

The location was spot on – I loved being just 2‑3 blocks from all the Cape May attractions.
