I was blown away by how perfect our trip to Portici turned out – my husband and I had a fantastic holiday. I was looking for a spot close to the sea, between Naples and Pompeii, that could serve as a base for day trips by train and also let us hit the nearby beach if we wanted. The place exceeded every expectation, thanks mainly to Monika who made us feel right at home. Her hospitality and the care she puts into welcoming guests is extraordinary! Breakfasts were delicious, and Monika would refill the fridge daily with our favorite treats while also accommodating special dietary needs. We felt truly at home. The apartment has three rooms, a shared bathroom (which we were a bit worried about before arriving, but it didn’t matter), a kitchen we could use, and we often cooked our own dinner and then ate on Monika’s lovely terrace. She keeps everything clean with great enthusiasm. As I mentioned, the apartment is a great launchpad for day trips; trains to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, etc. cost only 2‑3 € and the nearest station is a 10‑minute walk away. We could be in Pompeii in 40 minutes (we went almost daily to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pompeii for Mass – I wholeheartedly recommend it, and we also visited the ruins multiple times). Right next to Monika’s house is a grocery store, eateries, cafés, a barber, boutiques, and a market with cheap fruit and vegetables. A nice beach is 20 minutes away, which we used several times, and we also went to the beach toward Sorrento, especially in Stabia (highly recommended) and Vico Equense – very picturesque and beautiful. We stayed in Portici for 10 days. Monika, thank you so much for this time! You’re wonderful! We’re already missing you and will definitely want to return. Everything was great.
