From the start I felt warmly welcomed and received help with several excursion questions; the host was readily available and genuinely tried to assist me in every way, even inviting me to local village activities. Vichama Raymi was a highlight and perhaps the best event of the year. Breakfast was wow, worth returning for. The host was thoughtful, offering various home remedies because I was staying a bit. I truly appreciated that. I arrived as a stranger and left feeling like a friend of the family… such friendly people in Peru are unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The room lacked the cozy vibe I usually enjoy; a few wall paintings would have helped, but it was fine for a single night.

The atmosphere feels like a family gathering, super cozy and generous. The owners are enthusiastic about the ongoing academic studies, not just in the region but also in their town of Vegueta—both the confirmed history and the current research on indigenous health knowledge. You have to understand that Vegueta sits right at a construction hotspot with infrastructure like steel and cement installations, asphalted streets, and access to archaeological sites—so there's a lot of dust right now, but it's worth the investment to turn the town into a beautiful place between beaches and globally significant parks.
