The White Hart Hotel

We just stayed at The White Hart Hotel in Modbury and it truly surpassed our expectations. The rooms sit above the pub, but that doesn’t matter; the landlord and his wife welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room. The room itself was superb—clean, modern, bright, warm, and beautifully presented, with a top‑quality en‑suite, a comfy double bed, tea and coffee facilities, and a TV, making it feel like home. Breakfast was a highlight: we could choose our time and everything was ready, with a fantastic full English breakfast that was freshly prepared, piping hot, and excellent. The real charm is the genuine hospitality; the landlord and his wife clearly take pride in their work, and that personal touch matters. All in all, a great traditional pub, fantastic accommodation, excellent food, and genuinely lovely people. We loved it and would come back. Five stars from us—highly recommended!

A lovely, quaint little pub that feels warm. The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived, but getting a cab is a bit of a nightmare.

The place was clean and the hot water shower worked well, but the hot tap in the bathroom sink spun around and there was no food on Sunday night; the pub had too many dogs and many of the beers were off.
