We didn’t like anything about the place at all. We celebrated our departure! It’s a shame, but the place is horrible and extremely expensive for what it offers. There’s no electricity and no mosquito nets, so you have to choose between staying hot all night or getting bitten by bugs (bedbugs, mosquitoes, ants). The mattresses are very poor quality; you end up with springs in your back and the sheets are worse. Water ran out three times in the bathroom! I don’t understand how they can charge what they do! The place is worth only a third of what you pay for. You’re a few steps from the entrance of Semuc Chapey, but it doesn’t even have a good view—just faces the river. It’s full of sick, starving dogs and the workers keep beating them all the time! At 6 am, instead of waking to the sound of nature you’ll wake to the noise of the tuc tucs with their horns and reggaeton at full blast. Save yourself a bad experience.
