“A brand historic Hotel”
The hotel is a landmark in Hangzhou, having hosted many global celebrities and mainland leaders since the mid‑last century, and its lakeside location with a well‑maintained garden gives it a clear edge over other local hotels. However, booking a room and dining in the on‑site Chinese restaurant was a struggle during my two‑night stay because the restaurant didn’t prioritize hotel guests and served many non‑hotel diners; we had to wait until 8 pm for a table even after booking immediately after check‑in, and the food prices were far higher than similar‑standard restaurants in Hangzhou, roughly double. The hotel does offer free afternoon tea from 2 pm to 5 pm, so if you plan to stay, arriving early is advisable.
