“Authentiek en simpel”
It was very quiet and authentic, away from the crowds and unnecessary luxury. I loved the simple lifestyle, and thankfully there was Wi‑Fi. Unfortunately, like everywhere else, there was still plastic in the sea.

The bungalow sits right next to the sea, and the dining and seating area offers a sea view. The owners, Erni and Hendrik, are very helpful and speak English, and the staff are friendly. The food is good. However, the bungalow is very basic— the bathroom has a barely functioning shower and no sink. I think we were in the oldest unit; the others are probably better. Some bungalows look quite run down, with a few completely broken and un‑rentable.

The huts are very basic, but that’s expected for the price. They’re very clean, the owners are super friendly, and the food is fantastic. It’s perfect for a quiet stay, snorkeling, and diving.

The best part is that the bungalows are right by the sea. It’s not touristy, very quiet and peaceful. The beach is swimmable, there are some corals nearby, but the water was too murky during my stay. I can definitely recommend a snorkeling trip—one of the best corals I’ve seen—and a hike to Egon Volcano, which the staff helped me organize. The restaurant food is pretty good. The road is close, but it’s not busy so it didn’t bother me at all. There is a mosquito net over the bed, but the gaps under the bathroom and front doors are huge. One night I found a spider the size of my flip‑flop in the room. There was no hot water (though it was hot during the day). The only breakfast option was pancakes; having at least two options would have been nice if you stay longer than a couple of days. The area is pretty clean, but it seems either a bit overgrown or not well maintained enough.

I stayed in a charming old‑school beach bungalow that still feels good even though it could use a little TLC.
