“Wundervolles, sehr zu empfehlendes Hotel im Herzen Materas”
Perfect location to explore Matera. Beautiful views from several windows. Delicious, fresh breakfast and very friendly staff.

We had a wonderful stay at Ai Maestri Rooms & Cafè. Valeria and Nicola welcomed us warmly. The room was lovely, centrally located, and the breakfast was tasty. Don’t forget to dine at the owners’ restaurant, Osteria San Francesco – great food at a reasonable price. Highly recommend this stay!
“Short but sweet stay in Matera!”
Beautifully designed, clean and comfortable rooms right where you want to be for a visit to Matera, a captivating place. The owner/manager was very helpful, offering recommendations such as parking with a shuttle (we had a rental car) and restaurants. She also made a delicious breakfast!
“Zauberhaft, tolle Lage, sehr leckeres Frühstück!”
Great location right in the old town. We suggest arranging a transfer because carrying luggage from the parking lot to the accommodation was exhausting… A transfer for two people with luggage cost us 20€ on the return trip. No shortcomings.
“Excellent Accommodation & Restaurant”
The property sits in the heart of the Sassi, a restored family home. Valeria runs it privately, hands‑on and with great efficiency and friendliness. We stayed in Room 104, which was lovely, bright, and airy. The breakfast was superb—boiled egg, fresh fruit, bakery‑made focaccia—best of the holiday. Note: Husband Nicolo is the head chef at his own restaurant in Matera, www.ristorantesanfrancesco.it. I can honestly say it was the best meal we had on our 10‑day journey through Puglia. Nicolo’s experience in Michelin‑star restaurants in Brussels, Paris, and Milan shows through with passion in his cooking. It’s Michelin‑level cooking at regular prices, not the usual tourist fare. You won’t be disappointed if you stay at AI Maestri and dine at Ristorante San Francesco. Nothing else to mention—everything was great.
