The location is good and the breakfast is great. The shower was an issue: on our first morning I reported that the temperature couldn’t be adjusted, and they promised a fix. The next morning the same problem—scalding hot water. I had to use a towel to wipe soap off my body.

The room was large and had an outside space, but it looked worn and in need of a makeover. The carpet was dirty and could use a deep clean or replacement, and the shower area was cramped with black mould everywhere in the silicone sealant, especially around the wash basin base. Daily housekeeping was lacking – an empty toiletry bottle sat on the shower shelf when we arrived and was still there after three days. The shower door wouldn’t close properly and needed a firm shoulder push to shift; we reported it and were promised action, but nothing changed. The shower’s hot water was dangerously hot and the adjuster wouldn’t respond, even after we mentioned it.

Friendly staff at the front desk offered solid dinner tips and warned us off the “tourist trap” spots. The room felt secure, tidy and overall clean, and the spot was close to the town centre. We were disappointed that each of us got only a single small bottle of shampoo and conditioner and no shower gel – that’s barely the minimum. The sheets and bathrobes had some stains, and in room 200 the huge French‑style front door lets you see straight into the room; a thicker curtain or a wider rail would help with privacy and stop the gaps. The bathroom had black mould in the tile grout and around the bathtub silicone, plus mould on the ceiling, and the ceiling height was only an inch above my head (I’m 6'2"), which made it feel cramped. Noise from the room above was audible and could get pretty loud.

Breakfast offered a great variety, and the host was very accommodating to dietary needs. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
