The place sits right in the heart of Salvador, close to a bus stop that links to other neighborhoods. There's a fantastic bakery right next door, and the bed was super comfy. On the downside, the hygiene could use a lot of work—finding the bathroom was a hassle, and we had to wait two days for fresh toilet paper. The microwave is broken, and all you get for coffee is a kettle and a small pot.

It would have been perfect for the price if not for the strong mold smell. The room is in a basement that, despite being ventilated at the front, still feels stuffy and unhealthy. The odor was sharp, and my partner is allergic, which was a real issue. Too bad it's just a few steps from the center of Pelourinho.
