“romantic place”
Beautiful nature. Nice breakfast
“Immersed in nature and charming.”
We absolutely enjoyed our time here! The cabin was cozy and tucked into nature, and we saw plenty of sloths, birds, butterflies, frogs, and more right on the premises. The night tour was especially memorable, and the gardens and trails were gorgeous. It’s also a short drive to other spots like Rio Celeste, so everything was convenient.
“Beautiful property, wonderful breakfast Loved my guided tour. Room could use a little love.”
The room was clean, and breakfast was excellent and included with the room rate. I literally watched howler monkeys swing from the trees while eating. The grounds, trails, and property were stunning. Kendall, one of the family owners, was very friendly and welcoming. The guided tour the next morning was superb, and overall it was great value. If you don’t speak Spanish, I’d recommend asking for Jose‑Pedro; if you know some Spanish, Elana was also great. Sloths, howler monkeys, frogs, butterflies, incredible trees, lizards—walking around the property was a pleasure. There was a nice bench outside for morning coffee, and having a coffee pot in the room is always appreciated. The location is excellent and there’s plenty to do nearby. I love Bijagua! On arrival, it was very dark and poorly lit with no clear signage, which was unsettling, especially since I was traveling alone. I didn’t receive any specific directions after booking, so a confirmation message would have helped. That night, animals ran on the roof and things fell onto the tin roof, making it hard to sleep due to the noise. I also found several types of ants in the room, with large ones walking on the bed. The walls and window sills had gaps that let insects in, so I had to leave the porch light on to attract bugs outside. The bathroom had a musty smell, typical of places like this in Central America. I closed the screened window because the fan was too loud for the small space. A chair or nightstand would have been nice, and a desk would have helped. The price was reasonable, but with a few small upgrades they could charge more and keep guests coming back. The bathroom faucet was loose, the basin was crooked, and it required two hands to turn the tap, which would swing sideways and cause soap to fall into the sink.
The property sits right in the jungle, and I was woken each morning by the loud howls of the monkeys. A lot of wildlife can be spotted around the grounds, and the night tour was a highlight with countless frogs. Overall, it was a very relaxing stay and I’d love to return.
I loved the grounds - far from traffic, in the middle of a "secondary" rain forest, full of exotic and beautiful plants and flowers. We saw sloths and howler monkeys, and hummingbirds. There are maintained , easy paths you can follow through the forest. The head of staff was friendly, available, and helpful. The Hummingbird Cafe made good food, and was so convenient. Our cabin's door didn't fit tight, and rattled in the wind. Wedged papersin the cracks to keep it from rattling. It also was a little tricky to unlock. The shower head position was not adjustable and the stream was difficult to get underneath
