The place was spotless, cozy, and felt like home, and the spot was spot on. Nothing to complain about.

The person who looked like the manager treated me really well. I couldn't speak English or Uzbek, but he only spoke Russian, so there were some minor inconveniences. Luckily everyone has a phone these days, so using a translation app made communication possible and I didn't mind the language barrier. He genuinely tried to serve guests, and that personal touch left a strong positive impression on me.

The homestay sits in a very strategic spot, thanks to a Japanese tourist who pointed me toward this family guest house. The couple has a school boy handling the management, and they seem to enjoy a relaxed, harmonious life. They would never leave anyone alone in winter by raising the rent. When I arrived, the quadruple room and the family room were available. I chose the family room even though it holds about seven beds. It’s quite spacious, but probably not the best choice for a solo traveler.

Huge thanks to the hosts. Everything was clean, cozy, and they fed us tasty plov. If I ever return to Samarkand, I’ll definitely stay with these welcoming hosts again.

The location was good. I booked a private room but they assigned me to a shared one, explaining, “That’s just Uncle Bob. Nice guy, he won’t bother you.” Also, the wife keeps screaming at her husband and bossing him around in front of guests. Their smart 10‑year‑old son should be running the whole business.
