The dinner and breakfast were both very good, and the setting is pleasant with a valley view. I had booked the attic room: it’s dark, has only one small Velux window, and you can hear people above.

They put us up in the attic, and the second room they moved us to had a few bugs, which makes it clear the place is slipping into decline.

The bed was comfortable and the room décor was nice, but we chose this hotel specifically for its on‑site restaurant and highly rated breakfast. The restaurant was supposed to be open, according to the confirmation we received, yet it was closed on Monday evening without any notice from the hotel, forcing us to drive into town. The receptionist was friendly but completely incompetent; she gave us the manager’s number so we could message and call her on WhatsApp, and we’re still waiting for a reply. Breakfast officially starts at 9 am, and when we asked for an earlier service the receptionist said it wasn’t possible, even though the house rules state that, if requested before 7 pm the day before, breakfast can be served earlier. An hour later she called back and again said it couldn’t be done. The next morning we showed up at 9 am and found everything shut, with no staff to answer us—a disgrace. A new receptionist claimed it was open but didn’t accompany us, and indeed it remained closed. By 9:30 am a few friendly cellar staff said the team had arrived, but nothing changed. To this day I’m still waiting for the manager to contact me with an apology. It was a nightmare; we wandered around with another couple looking for breakfast, received no offer to tour the cellar, the shop was closed, and only the caretaker was pleasant. Avoid this place—it lives off past glory and offers nothing.
