The room was spacious. Unfortunately there wasn’t a proper shower in the bathroom, making it hard to shower properly.
“allez ailleurs, ou mettez votre anoral!”
Nothing special, honestly, (for once!) It felt like a typical modern Indonesian concrete building with no charm. They miscount the number of people per room, refusing to add a rollaway bed and charging for a double bed for three. They lie about having triples, but all were booked. The rooms were too small for three. Bajawa was cold at night and cool during the day; no heating. Bundle up, you can layer two comforters, but it’s barely enough. Breakfast was served half an hour late, coffee without milk, fried noodles, and the toast arrived after we were done and about to leave.
The hotel was decent and located in the town we wanted for our day trips. Unfortunately the shower in our room didn’t work at all—only a faucet ran—while the other two rooms we booked had functioning showers. Breakfast consisted of a banana pancake and some fruit served in a closed basement room, which was just average.
“À éviter”
The bed was comfortable. The hotel was dirty in the rooms and common areas; the room was outdated, breakfast was bad in a dim room, and the staff didn’t speak English even though all guests were Western.
The hotel is close to the main street and quiet. The beds are comfortable. The staff are friendly and even offered us extra breakfast for an early departure. The breakfast is classic but good. The rooms are outdated, there are leaks in the bathroom, the window faces a cluttered area. The dining room feels damp and sad. The room smells strongly of cleaning products. It’s a shame; with a few minor repairs and a fresh coat of paint it could be great.
