The place was downright filthy; every tap poured out brown, murky water, and one of the toilets looked like a ruin with rotten holes gouging the walls and ceiling.

The location could not have been better, but I was uneasy about the many foreign staff handling reservation changes until the day of arrival. When I got there, however, everyone was cheerful, helpful, and kept the old building surprisingly clean.

There was nothing noteworthy, but the changing room attached to the bath was covered in menstrual blood, which made me extremely uncomfortable.

The hotel's location overlooking Hamanako Lake, with a torii gate right in front, was truly stunning. The spacious Japanese-style room was a great feature. However, I was a bit let down by the breakfast, which had hard food and an instant miso soup that we had to make ourselves with hot water.
