A good stop to break our journey to Scotland. Comfortable bed. Very efficient shower. Very good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff at breakfast. Very grateful to the kind staff for posting a left electric toothbrush. It would have been helpful to know about the coffee/tea station. The plumbing was a bit noisy but understandable.

Very nice old‑fashioned pub, enjoyed it. I would have liked some toast with the breakfast; otherwise it was a very good stay and I’ll come back again.

The hotel double‑booked our room, so we were unable to stay!!!

Lovely rustic traditional pub. No heating at all, even in our room which was chilly. A lovely fire in the pub during the evening warmed us while we were downstairs.

I’m a pet owner and the hotel’s proximity to M6 was a real plus, and the bar’s firelight gave it a cozy vibe. Breakfast was included, which made it a good deal for a layover, and it’s close to the Lake District. The room was tiny, and the toilet’s macerator made flushing a loud noise. They charged me for my small dog even though the website says there’s no pet fee, so that policy needs updating. At night a smoker in the next room made the stay uncomfortable.
