A charming house right on the GR 01 SMA hiking trail with a lovely sea view. Spotlessly clean and fully equipped. Laurinda was a wonderful host who picked us up from the airport and even took us to the supermarket for our first shopping trip. We were delighted to bump into her again twice more around the island.

Casa do Norte turned out to be a fantastic find! Even late in the season, we enjoyed great hikes and took in the beautiful surroundings of Santa Maria. The mix of hiking trails, ocean views and beach days made for a refreshing experience. The cozy interiors added to the charm of our stay. Thanks for providing such a welcoming place—we had a great time and look forward to returning!
“Maison charmante, propice à la détente”
We loved the location, the calmness of the surroundings, the pretty garden, the sunset from the terrace, the house’s décor, and the extreme kindness of our host, Laurinda, who took great care of us throughout the stay. Despite the measures taken by our host (window nets, insecticide), insects still managed to get into the bathroom. We’re in the countryside, in a hot and humid climate, so it’s probably somewhat inevitable.
A beautiful house, traditionally decorated in Portuguese style, very clean and tidy. The host was extremely attentive. The area is very quiet, perfect for a relaxing vacation. One of the most beautiful accommodations we’ve ever booked!

This charming house turned out to be a tranquil retreat that went beyond what we imagined. Perched on a hill with a sea view, we spent our days reading and walking. While Santa Maria’s beaches are lovely, we were so enchanted by this rental that we didn’t want to leave. Our visit came right after two hectic weeks of travel, making it the perfect reset. The owner’s communication was flawless, and she was incredibly generous and helpful. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about the place.
