Soča House with a View - Lepena valley

The accommodation was spotless, the host replied quickly and was very kind, the kitchen was fully equipped and everything matched expectations, and the kids enjoyed the outdoor toys. The only downside was that the area is very quiet and a bit off the beaten path, but the description made that clear, so there were no surprises.

The house sits in a truly dreamy location, reachable via a narrow, steep gravel road with occasional potholes; at the end of that road there are three houses right next to each other. Driving to the supermarket in Bovec takes 30 min. The house is far from tourist crowds, overlooking a forested valley and the mountains, with the Sunik and Lepena rivers audible. The garden is great, large enough for badminton (thanks for the equipment), has a fire pit (wood is provided), an outdoor washing basin, a BBQ, and plenty of space for a family to sit at the table. There are garden chairs and a tree swing. We mostly stayed in the garden because the view in every direction is truly enchanting, lovingly maintained, and offers many possibilities. The narrow valley meant it only became sunny at 8:30 am in early September, and the last afternoon sun was until 16:30. Occasionally hikers heading to the Sunik waterfalls walked directly past the house through the garden, which was initially irritating but you get used to it. The host replied quickly to questions and we were pleased with the small welcome gift. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking and was very clean. However, the living area feels very functional and somewhat bare and impersonal; the sofa is quite small and a bit tight for five people. To have enough space you need to add the kitchen chairs or move some people into the rooms, which are mainly for sleeping and are also very small and functional. The mattresses definitely need replacing! What disturbed and affected us was the intermittent strong odor from the drain pit. When there was a lot of water flow (dishwasher running or several people showering one after another), the smell came from the bathroom into the hallway and rooms very strongly and unpleasantly like sewage. The windowless bathroom was always slightly damp, despite the electric extractor running continuously, but it did not really help against the odor from the pit.

The place is spotless with everything you could possibly need. I loved the peaceful setting within walking distance to Veliká Korita and with the Sunik waterfall just below the house.

The accommodation met all our needs. The beds were comfortable, the location was perfect—quiet, silent, surrounded by mountains. There was a washing machine, which was a convenience for us. Everything was far away. A mountain stream gurgled nearby, close enough to hear from the house. Hiking trails were even directly from the house. A waterfall and a hanging bridge were just a few minutes away. The accommodation was fully equipped and offered perfect relaxation.
