1 double bed
“Wouldn’t stay again”
The location was great, but the staff were unfriendly, the rooms smelled damp, the bathrooms were old and full of mould, there were gaps in door frames and visible cobwebs, the bar closed early and staff gave one‑word answers; a shame for such a prime spot on the Thames, and it seems a renovation is needed.
“The whole place needs a good clean and some staff who actually want their jobs”
The rear view of the hotel faces the River Thames, but when I parked and entered through the Reception/Restaurant sign, the tablet for car booking wasn’t in the foyer as promised; after about 20 minutes a man from the bar asked if I needed help, checked me in, took payment for the car park, and shoved a tablet so I could enter my registration; I was directed to my room, which smelled of tobacco and was in an old basement, offering a view of people’s feet walking on the street; I went to the bar for a drink, waited 25 minutes with no service, and when someone finally appeared there was no apology and a queue of people, so I walked away; returning to the hotel I found the room shabby and unclean, the toilet looked unclean and as if someone had spent a penny there, with toilet roll in the toilet and it hadn’t been flushed; I decided to drive back home to Derbyshire, grabbed my belongings, handed my key at Reception where many people were waiting, and told them I was leaving; a woman then asked which room it was, as they seemed to be waiting for a man who had come in with them and needed a room, which was odd because the man only had a carrier bag and they had no bags, and it seemed the women were known to the Reception guy.
“Tarif élevé par rapport au service rendu”
The location and the friendliness of the staff were great. The shower head leaked heavily because the seal was missing and I couldn’t adjust the temperature with the upper tap… and there was no room service for three nights?
The location was fine, yet there was no hand soap, shower gel or shampoo—the containers were empty, the shower water was lukewarm, I had to turn it down to almost nothing to get a shower, and the shower head wouldn’t stay in place.
The desk staff were very considerate – I’d sprained my ankle the day before and was limping with a walking pole, so the guy at reception immediately spotted it and offered a ground‑floor room; I could have taken the stairs but his thoughtfulness mattered. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room had extra fans and water for the hot weather. The balcony offered a nice view of trees and the Thames. The décor felt a bit tired, there was no USB socket for charging, and none of the sockets were near the bed.
