The Buddhist centre sounded intriguing, but the description never mentioned that the rooms were old prison cells, which I found out only after booking; it’s original, but I wouldn’t have booked it with that knowledge, and searching separately would reveal it; I found the cramped cells somewhat cool, definitely an experience, but booking should have made that clear; the cleanliness and staff were great.
“Amazing place for a short stay.”
The freedom to arrive whenever I wanted was fantastic, and I received all the information well ahead of time; everything was clear, simple, and the place was impeccably organized and spotless, with meticulous attention to detail that I really appreciated. The only drawback was that the small rooms had no windows, so on a hot day it was a bit of a challenge, but everything else was so good that it balanced out.
It was an unusual place to stay and offered a great location for a night in London. Nothing else to add.
The peacefulness, the location, and the staff.
“Uncomfortable”
Most of the staff were friendly, the bathroom was nice, the garden was cute, the location was decent, and the doors had locks. The bed was very uncomfortable, especially for tall people; the mattress was clearly old and should have been replaced long ago, causing back pain throughout my stay. In summer it gets very hot, and the only way to let cool air in is by opening the door to the hallway, since the room has no windows. The cleaning staff didn’t greet me or respond when I asked them anything. During my stay an unpleasant guest cursed at me for spending 15 minutes in the bathroom, which made me feel unsafe as a solo female traveler.
