Location, staff and food were great. The room was relatively small, the wait for hot water was long, and there was no Mosel view from the room window.

The family‑run hotel restaurant was very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom/toilet layout was modern but odd, kind of open in the room, with a glass sliding door. The restaurant was perfect, the food was very good, and the portions were huge. It’s a good stop on the way.

The family‑run Weinhaus Fries in Kattenes is a wonderful place where everything just works. What makes this house special is mainly the open, warm, and completely uncomplicated way the family runs it. From the first moment you feel welcome, almost as if you were staying with good friends. The rooms are super, spacious, modern, and fitted with a new, tasteful design. It’s clear that a lot of love was put into the details without losing the cozy character of the house. The food is also a hit: honest, down‑to‑earth Rhineland cuisine that really tastes good and doesn’t rely on unnecessary frills. They also serve excellent wines that round out the stay perfectly. That’s the combination that defines a Mosel vacation! We were especially impressed by a small but meaningful gesture: we had forgotten something, and the family sent it to us back in no time. That’s not something you expect and says more about the people behind a hotel than any glossy brochure. Here, people work with heart, commitment, and a soothing naturalness. No forced friendliness, but real hospitality, which is sadly rare today. Our conclusion: a great hotel with great people, excellent rooms, tasty food, and fantastic wines. If you want to experience the Mosel and not only stay well but feel truly welcome, this is the place. We’ll definitely come back and wholeheartedly recommend Weinhaus Fries. Thanks to the whole family for the lovely time and extraordinary hospitality! The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy in the early morning hours because of passing cars, but everything is still within acceptable limits.
