I liked almost everything.
I liked the room, but the breakfast, the bathroom, and the staff were disappointing.
“Historic riad, great budget value for money”
I got great value at this beautiful old riad; the budget room (room 5) was pretty cute, the cheapest with a private bathroom, a comfortable clean double bed, cold air‑con, hot showers, Wi‑Fi, and the roof terrace offered amazing views across the medina to the Middle Atlas mountains. Amine, Nadia, and Aziz were very helpful and welcoming. Light breakfast was included. Don’t expect the centuries‑old bathroom tiles to be spotless! I offended Amine by asking for a scrub‑brush and scrubbing them twice without any change, then had to apologise. The riad is a 600 m walk downhill from the Blue Gate, then a weird little entrance alley (see photos) which was fun. On the first morning someone banged on my bedroom door until I woke up and answered, telling me breakfast was finishing up (!@#!). After breakfast, when I was resuming my sleep‑in, someone banged on my door again to tell me to turn off the air‑conditioning because I was paying half‑price for the room and couldn’t afford to have air‑con on while sleeping (?%#@#$). That didn’t happen again. Looking back, this riad has had people lie around in the air‑conditioning for an afternoon and then demand money back and leave. I thought I’d already paid as said money would be deducted from my account the week before, but this riad is cash‑only so I hadn’t paid, and they were probably just trying to collect their money in case I disappeared!! Otherwise I enjoyed my stay. Good value!
