“Not cheap but a fabulous base for visiting the islands”

The location was superb and the food amazing; the staff were excellent and went out of their way to make the stay great, though the entrance had steep steps.

I absolutely loved the fixed‑price dinner menu at the Castle restaurant—changed daily, 4‑course fine dining with a good range of choices and excellent value at £30 each; the Garden room was spacious, clean and comfy, but Wi‑Fi in our room was pretty nonexistent and only so‑so in communal areas.

The food range was lovely, everything fresh; the restaurant menu was of high quality, excellently cooked and presented. I’ve stayed at many high‑quality hotels that have attention to detail, quality food, fine furnishings, special location, history, and attentive staff with impeccable manners (my partner, who has done silver service, knows well‑trained staff). Those qualities make a hotel special, but with impeccable staff it often feels dry. What makes Star Castle hotel unique for me is that it has all those features and is the only one with a warm family atmosphere. Your hotel will be hard to beat. Well done! I can’t think of anything else—only that ventilating the dungeon bar must be tough; it was a little musty, but what can you expect, it’s a dungeon. :-D
